FSAAFM Projects (Ysterplaat)
The FSAAFM Ysterplaat Branch is currently busy with several projects, most notably the restoration of Buccaneer 416.
Dakota 6832 Restoration Project:
Work has recently started on Dakota 6832 to combat corrosion and keep her looking great for many years to come. This is a developing project, so more photos of the progress will be published as the project gains momentum.

Buccaneer 416 Restoration Project:
The restoration of Buccaneer 416 is a very hands on project underway at the Cape Town branch of the SAAF museum. The goal is to restore the aircraft after years of neglect outside so that she can be preserved for future generations. The project is now nearing completion with small details being added to the aircraft.
The project is in its closing stages with only minor work left to be completed.
Applying the markings start with the application of the vinyl templates in the correct location.

Alouette III 611 Dayglo repair:
Ysterplaat's Allouette III received a fresh coat of dayglo paint in preparation for 22 Squadron's 80th birthday celebrations held at the museum on the 5th of August 2022.
The dayglo bodywork was properly shining in the setting Cape Town sun as she awaited the guests.
611 back safe in hangar 4.
Dayglo tends to fade very rapidly and it has been a good few years since 611 last received some TLC...
